Chapter 1

Working with organizers

1.1 Getting Started as Staff

The staff portal is where paid event crew find work, see their shifts and tasks, message the organizer and follow their hours and pay. You land there when you sign in with a staff account (people who hold several roles switch roles from the avatar menu). Everything lives under one sidebar headed Staff.

Paid staff, not volunteers. This section is about paid staff. If you help an event for free — through an invitation link from the organizer, a volunteer team or a volunteer ticket — that is a different module with its own pages. Read Volunteering instead. The help section is titled “Staff & Volunteers” for historical reasons only.

How you get a staff account

  • An organizer invites you. They send an invitation by email. Open the link: if you are new you choose a password, if you already have an account you sign in first and then accept. Accepting makes you staff and, when the invitation was for one event, approves you for that event straight away.
  • You register as staff yourself from the Work as Staff page. Your staff profile then shows Your account is pending admin approval. until an administrator reviews it.

Your first steps

  1. Open My Profile and fill in your bio, skills, certifications, availability and an emergency contact. Organizers read this when they decide on your application. See Staff Profile.
  2. Open Browse Events, read the event and its shifts, and apply — or accept the invitation you were sent. See How to Apply for Events.
  3. Wait for the organizer’s decision. You get a notification and an email when you are approved or declined.
  4. Once you are approved, the organizer assigns you to shifts. They appear on My Shifts. You do not pick shifts yourself.
  5. On the day, press Check In and later Check Out. Those two taps become your hours. See Check-in & Check-out.

Good to know

  • EventMann does not pay you. The organizer is your employer or client. The platform records your hours and the pay the organizer calculates, but it never moves money to staff. See Understanding Your Pay.
  • Nobody is emailed when the organizer puts you on a shift. Look at My Shifts after you are approved.
  • Press Ctrl+K (or use the search box above the sidebar) to jump to any page of the portal.

1.2 Staff Dashboard

The Dashboard is the first page of the staff portal (sidebar → Dashboard). It gives you four counters and your next shifts, so you can see at a glance whether something needs you.

What you can do here

  1. Read the counters at the top. Upcoming Shifts ① is the number of shifts assigned to you that are dated today or later.
  2. Look at the Upcoming Shifts list ②. It shows your next five shifts with the event, the date and the times. A green Checked in label means you are clocked in right now; Done means you have checked out. View All opens My Shifts.
  3. Check Active Events ③: every event you are approved for, with the status badge. This list shows up to six events.
  4. Use the sidebar badges ④. Messages carries the number of unread messages; Shift Swap carries the number of swap requests waiting for your yes or no.

Tasks OverdueOnly tasks that are overdue — the due date has passed and the task is not completed. Tasks due in the future are not counted here; find them on My Tasks.
Unread MessagesMessages sent to you that you have not opened yet, replies included.
Active EventsEvents where the organizer has approved you.

Good to know

  • If your account is still waiting for approval by an administrator, a yellow Your account is pending admin approval. label appears beside the title. You can already fill in your profile.
  • Edit Profile at the top right opens Staff Profile.
  • The dashboard does not show pay. Open My Payments for that.

Troubleshooting

  • The shift counter is 0 but I was approved. Approval is not a shift. The organizer still has to assign you to one — check again later or send a message.
  • An event is missing under Active Events. Only approved events are listed. An application that is still waiting, or one that was declined, shows on Browse Events instead.

1.3 Browse Events

Browse Events (sidebar → Browse Events) lists the upcoming events you can apply to work. The page itself is headed Events to Work At. This article covers paid staff; for volunteer teams read Volunteering.

What you can do here

  • See every public event that is live and has not started yet, soonest first, twelve to a page.
  • Read each card: the picture, the title, the date and the city.
  • Check the state of your own application on that event — the badge at the bottom of the card ①.
  • Apply with Apply to Work ②, or withdraw a waiting application with Cancel Application ③.
  • Open Event details ④ for the full page.

The event details page

Click the title or Event details. The page shows the date and time in the event’s own time zone (the zone abbreviation is printed beside the time), the venue and address, the organizer’s name, the description and a link to the public event page. On the right the Shifts panel lists the shifts the organizer has created: title, Open or Full, date, times, location, notes and how many places are still free (“3 of 4 spots open”). Cancelled shifts are not listed. In the picture, your status badge is ①, the Shifts panel ②, a shift’s status ③ and its free places ④. See How to Apply for Events.

The details of an event you are approved for, with the organizer’s shifts on the right
The details of an event you are approved for, with the organizer’s shifts on the right

Good to know

  • The list shows every public live event, not only the events that are hiring. An event being listed does not mean the organizer needs crew — the Shifts panel tells you more. Organizers can also choose to appear on the public Work as Staff page; that is a separate switch.
  • Events you applied to stay readable even after the organizer pauses or unlists them, so an approved shift is never hidden from you.
  • Draft, private, cancelled and past events are not listed.
  • The shift list on an event is a preview. It shows what exists; it does not sign you up for anything.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot find an event. It may be private, not yet live or already started. Ask the organizer for an invitation link instead.
  • The Apply button is missing. You have already applied (even if you cancelled and the organizer rejected you), or your staff profile is suspended. Contact the organizer or support.

1.4 How to Apply for Events

You apply for an event from Browse Events and the organizer decides. This article walks through the application, what happens after it, and the second way in — an invitation from the organizer.

Apply to an event

  1. Open Browse Events from the sidebar.
  2. Click the event title or Event details and read the description, the time, the Shifts panel ③ and, if you want to see what guests see, the View public event page link ②.
  3. Click Apply to Work ①.
  4. The page confirms with Application Pending and the badge on the event changes to Applied.
An event you have not applied to yet: the Apply button, the public page link and the shifts panel
An event you have not applied to yet: the Apply button, the public page link and the shifts panel

What happens next

  1. The organizer and every team member allowed to manage staff are notified of your application (bell, email and push, depending on their own settings).
  2. They approve or decline. You are told either way with a bell notification and an email (the Event team decisions setting). A decision to approve links straight to My Shifts.
  3. If you are approved, the organizer assigns you to one or more shifts. You are not notified about each assignment — open My Shifts to see them.

Pay and your application

An application made from Browse Events is recorded as unpaid until the organizer gives you an hourly rate — either while approving or later on their staff page. When payroll is generated, a person with no rate is skipped, so no pay line appears for them. Ask the organizer about the rate before you work your first shift. See Understanding Your Pay.

Withdraw an application

  1. Go to Browse Events.
  2. On the event, click Cancel Application and confirm. This only works while the badge says Applied. Afterwards you can apply again.

If an organizer invites you instead

An organizer can invite you by email. The link opens a page that shows the invitation. A new person chooses a password; someone who already has an account must be signed in as that account before accepting. When the invitation names an event, accepting approves you for it immediately — there is no separate application. You start without an hourly rate there too, so settle the rate with the organizer. An invitation that has expired or was cancelled shows an error and you should ask for a new one.

Good to know

  • You can only have one application per event. After a rejection you cannot apply again from the portal; talk to the organizer.
  • A suspended staff profile cannot apply and cannot be put on shifts.
  • Applying does not reserve a shift. Shifts come from the organizer.

Troubleshooting

  • “Already Applied” error. There is an application on file. Check the badge on the event card.
  • I was approved but see no shifts. The organizer has not assigned you yet. Message them from Messages.
  • Your staff profile is suspended. Only an administrator can change this — use Support.

1.5 My Shifts

My Shifts (sidebar → My Shifts) lists every shift an organizer has assigned to you, grouped by event and ordered by date. It is also where you clock in and out and ask for a swap.

What each card shows

  • The shift title, the date, the start and end time and the location (when the organizer entered one).
  • Once you have checked in: the time you checked in. After you check out: the check-out time and Hours Worked.
  • On the right, the one thing you can do right now.

Check in on your phone

The page is made for a phone. Open it from the home screen or the sidebar menu, scroll to your shift and tap the green Check In button ②. The shift you are working shows Check Out ①, and a shift that is not open yet says when clock-in opens ③.

My Shifts on a phone: Check Out for the shift in progress, Check In for the next one
My Shifts on a phone: Check Out for the shift in progress, Check In for the next one

Good to know

  • You cannot sign up for shifts yourself. Only the organizer assigns them. Nobody is emailed when this happens, so look at this page after you are approved.
  • If you are taken off the event’s team, your shifts that have not started yet are released automatically and clock-in is refused for the rest. Hours you already worked stay on record.
  • The organizer can also check you in from their side, using the same time rules.

Troubleshooting

  • The shift is not in the list. It has not been assigned to you, or you were removed from the event. Ask the organizer.
  • There is a grey line instead of a button. Read it — it names the time clock-in opens, says the window has closed, or says you are no longer on this event’s team.

1.6 Understanding Your Schedule

This article explains how to read the dates and times on My Shifts and the dashboard, what the organizer can and cannot do with your schedule, and what to do when it changes.

Reading a shift

  • Date and times are the event’s local time. A shift for an event in Mannheim at 16:00 is 16:00 in Mannheim, wherever you are looking at it. The event page also prints the time zone abbreviation next to the event time.
  • An overnight shift that starts at 17:00 and ends at 02:00 finishes on the next calendar day. The card shows the date it starts on.
  • Location is a free-text line the organizer typed (for example “Loading dock”).
  • A shift’s own status — Open, Full, Closed or Cancelled — is what the organizer sees. You see Open and Full on the event page; cancelled shifts are hidden there.

In the picture: your Approved badge ①, the Shifts panel ②, a shift’s status Open ③ and its free places ④.

What the system checks for you

  • The organizer cannot assign you to two shifts that overlap on the same date; the assignment is refused.
  • A shift that is already full takes nobody else, and a suspended staff profile cannot be assigned at all.
  • A direct swap that would put someone on two overlapping shifts is refused when the organizer approves it.

When your schedule changes

ChangeHow you find out
You are put on a shift or taken off itYou are not notified. Check My Shifts; the dashboard counter changes too.
The organizer changes a shift’s time or placeNo automatic message. Organizers can write to you from the staff page; watch Messages.
You are removed from the event teamYou get a bell notification and an email. Shifts that had not started are released; ones you already worked stay.
A swap is approved or declinedBoth people involved get a bell notification and an email.

Good to know

  • There is no calendar export and no reminder email for staff shifts. Put the times in your own calendar.
  • Your Availability on Staff Profile (Mon to Sun) is information for the organizer; it does not block assignments.
  • If the event itself moves, ask the organizer to tell you directly — do not rely on an automatic message reaching you.

Troubleshooting

  • My shift times look an hour off. Compare with the event’s time zone on the event page, not with your phone’s.
  • Two shifts look like they overlap. Tell the organizer, and ask them to remove one. Assignments made before the overlap check existed can still be there.

1.7 Shift Swaps

If you cannot work a shift you were given, ask for a swap. You ask from My Shifts; the requests you sent and received are on Shift Swap (sidebar). Nothing changes until the organizer approves — your colleague saying yes is a step, not the end.

Ask for a swap

  1. Open My Shifts and find the shift. The button is only there while you have not checked in.
  2. Click Request Swap ①.
  3. Under Open (anyone) ② choose a colleague, or leave it open. Only people approved for the same event are listed.
  4. Write a short Reason (optional) ③ — the organizer reads it.
  5. Press Submit Swap Request ④.
The swap form opened on a shift
The swap form opened on a shift

The card then shows Swap requested with the colleague’s name. Only one request can wait on a shift. Press Cancel beside the label to withdraw it; the colleague is told.

The Shift Swap page

Every request you sent or were asked to take is listed with the shift, its date and times, who it is From and To, the reason and a status badge.

  1. A request you sent shows Cancel ① while it is Pending or Accepted.
  2. A request addressed to you shows Accept ② and Decline ③. The sidebar badge counts these.
  3. The status badge ④ tells you where it stands: Pending, Accepted (the colleague agreed), Approved (the organizer agreed), Rejected (the organizer said no) or Cancelled.
Shift Swap with a request you sent, a request waiting for your answer and a rejected one
Shift Swap with a request you sent, a request waiting for your answer and a rejected one

What happens at each step

  • Request sent to a colleague — they get a bell notification and an email (setting Shift swaps).
  • Colleague accepts — the status becomes Accepted and you are told. The shift is still yours.
  • Organizer approves — the shift moves to the colleague. Both of you are notified. The organizer can approve a request that is still Pending or already Accepted. An open request (no colleague named) takes you off the shift and puts the place back on it for the organizer to fill.
  • Organizer rejects — the shift stays with you. Both are notified.

Good to know

  • A swap hands your shift over. It is not an exchange of two shifts — if you want to trade, ask each other and request both.
  • An open request has no colleague. Once the organizer approves it the shift leaves your My Shifts; finding the cover is the organizer’s job. Once you have checked in to a shift, the organizer can no longer approve a swap for it.
  • Until a request is approved you are still responsible for the shift.
  • A colleague whose staff profile is suspended cannot accept.

Troubleshooting

  • There is no Request Swap button. You have already checked in to this shift, or a request is already waiting.
  • The colleague I want is not in the list. They are not approved for this event yet.
  • The organizer refused with a conflict message. The colleague already has a shift at that time.

Chapter 2

On shift

2.1 Check-in & Check-out

On your shift, the Check In and Check Out buttons on My Shifts (sidebar → My Shifts) are how EventMann records the hours you worked. They are the only source for the hours that later turn into pay.

How to check in and out

  1. Open My Shifts and find your shift. When you are working, press Check In ② — the green button.
  2. The card now shows Checked In and the time. The button turns into an orange Check Out ①.
  3. When you finish, press Check Out ①. The card shows Done ⑥ with the hours worked, for example Done (4.50h). There is nothing left to press.

When the button is there

  • Clock-in opens two hours before the shift starts and stays open until four hours after it ends. Before that the card shows a grey line such as Clock-in opens Sun 8 Nov, 14:30. ④; after it, Clock-in for this shift has closed.
  • You must still be approved for the event. If the organizer has taken you off the team, the grey line says so.
  • You can only check out after you checked in, and only once.
My Shifts: Check Out for a shift in progress, Check In for the next one, and a shift whose clock-in has not opened yet
My Shifts: Check Out for a shift in progress, Check In for the next one, and a shift whose clock-in has not opened yet

How the hours are worked out

  • Hours are the time between the two taps, in hours with two decimals.
  • Paid hours are capped at the length of the scheduled shift plus two hours. If you forget to check out on Friday and do it on Monday, you are credited the shift plus the two-hour grace, not the days in between.
  • There is no break timer, no location check and no QR code. If you check in early or leave late, that time counts, up to the cap.

On your phone

The same page works on a phone. Open it from the sidebar menu (the Menu bar at the top of the page) and tap the button: Check Out ① for the shift in progress, Check In ② for the next one, and a grey note ③ when clock-in has not opened yet.

The shifts page on a phone, with Check Out and Check In
The shifts page on a phone, with Check Out and Check In

Good to know

  • A shift appears here only after an organizer assigned you to it. Approved for an event is not the same as being on a shift.
  • The organizer can also check you in from their staff page, with the same time window.
  • You cannot change a check-in or check-out afterwards. If something went wrong, ask the organizer.
  • Whether hours turn into pay depends on the organizer: they need to have set your hourly rate and to run payroll. See Understanding Your Pay.

If you forget to check out

Nothing happens automatically: the shift stays checked in, never checked out, and no hours are calculated for it because hours are only worked out when you press Check Out. Payroll skips a shift that has no hours. Message the organizer through Messages as soon as you notice, so it can be sorted out before payroll is generated.

Troubleshooting

  • There is no Check In button. Read the grey line in its place — it names the time clock-in opens, says it closed, or says you are no longer on the team. If the card shows Check Out or Done you already checked in.
  • My hours look lower than the shift. Hours run from your check-in to your check-out, not from the scheduled times, and are capped at the shift length plus two hours.
  • The shift never reached My Payments. If it shows no check-out time it has no hours, and payroll skips it.

2.2 My Tasks

My Tasks (sidebar → My Tasks) lists the jobs an organizer has given you for the events you are approved for. Tasks are grouped by event and sorted by due date, earliest first.

What you see

  • The event ① as a heading above its tasks.
  • Title and description — what the organizer wrote.
  • Due — the due date, when there is one. A task past its date is shown in red with Overdue ② and the row is tinted. The due day is inclusive: a task due on Saturday is still on time all day Saturday.
  • Status — a dropdown ③ with Pending, In Progress and Completed. Finished tasks show a green Completed badge ④ instead and cannot be changed any more.

Change a status

  1. Open the dropdown on the task ③.
  2. Choose In Progress when you start and Completed when you are done. The page saves as soon as you choose — there is no Save button.

The organizer gets a notification each time you change a status. Read Completing Assigned Tasks for what completion means.

On a phone

The dropdown ① is on the right of each task, and an overdue date ② is red. Tap the dropdown, choose a status and the page reloads with the change.

Good to know

  • There are no priorities, comments, attachments or sub-tasks. If you need to say something about a task, write to the organizer in Messages.
  • Only the organizer creates and deletes tasks.
  • Tasks of an event you were removed from disappear from this list.
  • On the Dashboard, the Tasks Overdue counter counts only overdue tasks.

Troubleshooting

  • No tasks. You must be approved for an event and the organizer must have assigned you a task. Approval alone brings none.
  • I set Completed by mistake. A completed task cannot be reverted. Message the organizer and ask them to reset it.

2.3 Completing Assigned Tasks

This article follows one task from the moment it is assigned to the moment it is done, and says what the organizer sees along the way. The page you work on is My Tasks.

The life of a task

  1. The organizer assigns it. They give it a title, an optional description and an optional due date on their staff page. You receive a bell notification and an email (setting Tasks assigned to you) that links to My Tasks.
  2. You start it. Set the task to In Progress. This is optional but it tells the organizer the job is being handled.
  3. You finish it. Set it to Completed. The completion time is recorded.
  4. The organizer is told. Every status change you make sends the organizer a bell notification and an email (setting Task status updates) naming you, the task and its new status.

In the picture: the event heading is ①, a task past its due date ②, the status dropdown ③ and a finished task ④.

Rules that apply to every task

RuleWhat it means for you
Three statusesPending, In Progress, Completed. You can jump from Pending straight to Completed.
Completed is finalOnce completed, the dropdown disappears. A completed task cannot be set back, by you.
Overdue is automaticThe day after the due date the task turns red and counts on your dashboard until you complete it.
No due dateThe task is never overdue.

Good to know

  • Completing a task is a statement to the organizer — nothing is checked automatically. Complete only what is done.
  • Tasks do not affect your pay. Pay comes from your shift hours.
  • If a task needs a decision or a file, answer through Messages; the task itself has no comment box.
  • You can turn the emails for task assignments and status updates off in your notification settings; the bell notification stays.

Troubleshooting

  • I never got a notification for a new task. Check My Tasks anyway, and check your notification preferences for Tasks assigned to you.
  • The organizer says a task is not done but it shows Completed. The status is your own setting — ask the organizer to reset it, then set it again when it really is.

2.4 Messages

Messages (sidebar → Messages) is your inbox for conversations with the organizers of the events you work. Each conversation is a thread: one subject, with replies underneath.

What you can do here

  • Start a conversation with New Message ①.
  • Open a thread ②. Unread threads carry a dot and are tinted. A thread that has unread replies shows a small number with an arrow, like 1 ↩ ③.
  • Reply inside the thread.

Write a new message

  1. Click New Message ①.
  2. Choose the Event ① — the list contains the events you are approved for. The event decides who receives the message: the organizer of that event.
  3. Type a Subject ② (up to 255 characters) and your Message ③ (up to 5,000).

Good to know

  • Every message you send also reaches the organizer as a bell notification and an email, so they can answer from anywhere.
  • Messages arrive with you the same way: a bell notification and an email (setting Staff messages), plus a push notification if you enabled it.
  • Messages are plain text. There are no attachments.
  • You can only start a conversation about an event you are approved for.

Troubleshooting

  • The event list is empty. You are not approved for any event yet.
  • The organizer did not answer. Check the thread again later; if it is urgent, use Support in the sidebar for platform problems — it does not reach event organizers.

2.5 Team Communication

This article explains who you can talk to as staff, what EventMann tells you on its own, and what it does not. For the screen itself read Messages.

Who you can talk to

  • The organizer of an event you work. That is the one channel built into the portal. Your message goes to the organizer’s account; team members with permission to manage staff read and answer it from the organizer area (Manage → Staff → Messages).
  • The EventMann team through Support in the sidebar — for problems with your account or the platform, not for event questions.

There is no direct chat between staff members and no group chat. To coordinate with a colleague, use the organizer, or exchange details outside EventMann. Swaps with a colleague go through Shift Swaps.

What the organizer can send you

  • A message to you alone — a thread in your inbox.
  • A message to the whole event team — a broadcast. Every approved staff member receives their own copy, so it lands in your inbox as a normal thread, and you can reply to the organizer who sent it. Replies are private; the other staff do not see them.

In a thread the subject is ①, the organizer’s reply ②, and your answer goes in the box ③ with Send Message ④.

A thread with the organizer: you can answer any message you receive, a broadcast included

What EventMann tells you automatically

EventYou get
A new message or replyBell, email, push (setting Staff messages)
Your application is approved or declinedBell and email (Event team decisions)
You are removed from an event teamBell and email (Event team decisions)
A task is assigned to youBell and email (Tasks assigned to you)
A shift swap is requested, accepted, approved, rejected or cancelledBell and email (Shift swaps)

You decide which emails you want in your notification preferences (avatar menu). The bell notification stays on.

What does not notify you

  • Being put on, or taken off, a single shift.
  • A change to a shift’s time or place.
  • A payroll period being created, approved or marked paid.

For those, look at My Shifts and My Payments regularly, and ask the organizer to message you about changes.

Good to know

  • Keep messages short and say which event and shift you mean — an organizer may run several.
  • Never send bank details or passwords in a message.

Troubleshooting

  • I get emails but no bell, or the other way round. The bell is always on; emails follow your preferences.
  • A broadcast reached me twice. You may be on two events from the same organizer. Each event sends its own copy.

2.6 Payments

My Payments (sidebar → My Payments) shows the pay that organizers have worked out for your hours. It is a record, not a payout screen: EventMann does not send you money. For how the figures are calculated read Understanding Your Pay.

  • Rows only appear after the organizer runs payroll. Working a shift does not create one; until then the page says No payment records yet.
  • Paid means the organizer has marked it paid. The money itself moves between you and the organizer by whatever way you agreed — EventMann never transfers it.
  • You are not notified when a period is created, approved or paid. Check this page after the event.
  • The table does not break out bonus and deductions; if a total looks different from hours times rate, ask the organizer.
  • Every figure is in the currency of the payroll period, which is the event’s currency. If you have worked for events in different currencies, each total shows one line per currency — amounts in two currencies are never added together.

Troubleshooting

  • A shift I worked is missing. It may have no check-out (no hours), you may have no hourly rate on that event, or payroll has not been run for those dates. Ask the organizer.
  • The rate is 0.00. The organizer has not set one; a person without a rate is normally left out of payroll altogether.

2.7 Understanding Your Pay

This article explains how your pay is worked out, who does what, and — just as important — what EventMann does not do. The page that shows the result is Payments.

Who pays you

The organizer. EventMann provides the shift records and a payroll worksheet for the organizer; it does not hold or send staff pay. When a period is marked Paid it means the organizer says they have paid you — by bank transfer, cash or however you agreed with them.

How pay is calculated

  1. Hours. From your Check In and Check Out on each shift (see Check-in & Check-out), capped at the shift length plus two hours.
  2. Rate. The hourly rate the organizer set for you on this event. Without a rate you are treated as an unpaid helper and are left out of payroll.
  3. Overtime. When the organizer generates payroll they choose a threshold and a multiplier. The defaults are 8 hours per shift and 1.5×. Hours up to the threshold are paid at your rate; the hours above it at rate × multiplier.
  4. Bonus and deductions. While a period is Open the organizer can add a bonus or a deduction to your row, with a note.
  5. Total. Base pay + overtime pay + bonus − deductions.

Example: a 9-hour shift at 14.00 per hour with the default overtime is 8 × 14.00 = 112.00, plus 1 × 21.00 = 21.00 — total 133.00.

In the picture, the hours are in the Hours Worked column ①, the result in Total Pay ②, the state of the run under Status ③ and the totals underneath ④.

The life of a payroll period

StatusWhat it means
OpenThe organizer created the run from completed shifts. They can still add bonus or deductions.
LockedNo more edits.
ApprovedThe organizer signed the run off.
PaidThe organizer marked the run as paid.

The organizer can also export the run as a spreadsheet. There is no payslip download for staff.

Good to know

  • Only shifts with a check-out and hours greater than zero are paid.
  • A payroll run covers a date range the organizer chooses. A shift outside that range waits for the next run.
  • Taxes, social security and invoices are between you and the organizer. EventMann does not withhold anything or issue pay slips.
  • Agree your rate before the event, ideally in writing in Messages.

Troubleshooting

  • My total is lower than expected. Compare Hours Worked with your shift (the cap), and ask the organizer about deductions.
  • Nothing is on My Payments after the event. Payroll has not been run, or you had no rate. Ask the organizer.
  • It says Paid but I have not been paid. Paid is the organizer’s mark. Contact the organizer; EventMann cannot see a transfer.

2.8 Payment Methods

Payment Methods (sidebar → Payment Methods) is a small address book of the ways you would like to be paid: bank transfer, PayPal address, cheque or cash. It lists what you saved and lets you add more.

What this page is, and is not. These entries are notes you keep in your account. EventMann does not pay you with them, does not pass them on to organizers and does not show them on any organizer or payroll screen. Agree the actual payout with the organizer yourself.

What you can do here

  • See each saved method with its type. A Default label ① marks the one used first. A bank transfer shows the account name and only the last four characters of the number (“****4821”).
  • Make another entry the default with Set as Default ②.
  • Delete an entry; you are asked to confirm. If you delete the default, the most recently added entry becomes the default.
  • Add an entry with the form Add Payment Method ③ — see Setting Up Payment Method.

PayPalA PayPal email address. This is only a note for your own use — EventMann has no PayPal connection.
CheckNothing; the entry only records the preference.
CashNothing; the entry only records the preference.

Good to know

  • The first method you add becomes the default automatically.
  • Entries are private to your account.
  • Because nothing reads these entries for payouts, keeping them accurate is for your convenience only.

Troubleshooting

  • The form will not save. A bank transfer needs an account name and number; a PayPal entry needs a valid email address.
  • I deleted the wrong entry. Add it again; deleted entries are not recoverable.

2.9 Setting Up Payment Method

This is the step-by-step for adding a payment method on Payment Methods (sidebar → Payment Methods). Read Payment Methods first if you want to know what the entries are used for — they are notes for you; they do not trigger any payout.

Add a bank account

  1. Scroll to the Add Payment Method form below your saved entries.
  2. Leave Payment Type ① on Bank Transfer.
  3. Type the account holder in Account Name ②. It is required.
  4. Type your IBAN or account number in Account Number ③. It is required.
  5. If your bank needs one, add the Routing Number (sort code or BIC). Optional.
  6. Press Add Payment Method ④.
The add form for a bank transfer with the name and number filled in

The new entry appears at the top of the list. Only the last four characters of the number are shown afterwards.

Add one of the other types

  1. Choose PayPal, Check or Cash in Payment Type ①. The fields below change.
  2. For PayPal type the email address. For Check and Cash there is nothing to fill in.
  3. Press Add Payment Method.

Choose which one is the default

  1. In the list, click Set as Default on the entry you want.
  2. The Default label moves to it. Only one entry is the default.

Good to know

  • Fields are limited: names and emails up to 255 characters, account and routing numbers up to 50.
  • Tell the organizer how to pay you in a message as well. They cannot see this page.
  • Check the account number twice. There is no verification against your bank.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing happens when I press the button. A required field for the chosen type is empty. For PayPal, the email field must be filled; for a bank transfer, name and number.
  • The number I typed shows with stars. That is intended; only the last four characters are displayed.

2.10 Staff Profile

My Profile (sidebar → My Profile, or Edit Profile on the dashboard) is what organizers and administrators learn about you. Fill it in before you apply — an organizer deciding on twenty applications reads this.

Your account status

  • Pending — a self-registered account that an administrator has not reviewed. A yellow notice Your account is pending admin approval. shows on the dashboard and this page. You can still apply to events.
  • Active — reviewed, or you joined through an organizer’s invitation.
  • Suspended — an administrator has blocked the account. You cannot apply to events, be assigned to shifts or accept swaps. Contact support.

Good to know

  • The profile is not public. It is not shown to event guests.
  • Your name and email come from your account, not from this page. Change them in your account settings.
  • Keep the emergency contact current — it is the only safety information the platform holds about you.

Troubleshooting

  • A skill does not stick. Press Enter or + after typing it, then Save Profile.
  • It still says pending. An administrator approves new staff accounts manually; if you were invited by an organizer you are already active.

Using EventMann

3.1 Getting Started with EventMann

EventMann is a platform for finding and booking event tickets, and for the organizers, vendors, sponsors, staff and venues that make those events happen. This page is the map: read it first, then follow the link that fits what you want to do. If you only want to look at events, you do not need an account at all.

Create an account

The registration page with Google, Facebook and LinkedIn buttons and the email form

  1. Open Register at the top right.
  2. Press Google ①, Facebook or LinkedIn to sign up with that account, which skips choosing a password. Or fill in the form: Name ②, Email, Password and Confirm Password.
  3. Press Create account ③.
  • The ordinary registration page creates an attendee account, the one for browsing and buying tickets. Organizer, vendor, sponsor and venue accounts are created from their own sign-up pages, linked from the footer.
  • You are signed in straight away. We send you an email with a link to verify your address; it is valid for 72 hours. Some things, such as buying a membership, publishing as an organizer or accepting a ticket transfer, need a verified address.
  • A password needs at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character.

  1. Open Sign In and enter your email and password, or use one of the social buttons you registered with.
  2. Tick Remember me ③ if you want to stay signed in on this device.
  3. If you turned on two-factor authentication, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app (or a recovery code).

Forgot your password? Press Forgot your password? ② and follow the emailed link, valid for 60 minutes. An account you do not use is signed out after a period of inactivity.

  • Your avatar menu — My Profile, Notification Preferences, My Tickets, My Memberships, My Messages, your Dashboard and Sign Out. If your account has more than one role, a role switcher appears here.
  • Your account sidebar — the same places and more, shown on every attendee page, with a Search menu box (press Ctrl+K) that jumps to any page of your account.

Good to know

  • One account, several roles. You can ask for another role without a second account. An organizer role is granted at once on a verified email; vendor, sponsor and venue requests are reviewed first. Staff members are added by an organizer. Switch between roles you hold from the avatar menu.
  • You can browse and search without an account. A checkout asks you to sign in only if that event’s organizer requires it.
  • EventMann is operated by ChetsApp UG in Fellbach, Germany, and is available in several languages: choose one with the flag in the top bar or in your profile.
  • Everything about your data is in Privacy & Data.

Troubleshooting

  • I signed up but do not see my dashboard — check your email for the verification message, including spam. The Dashboard link opens the dashboard for your current role.
  • I want to become an organizer, vendor, sponsor or venue owner — use the Become an Organizer or Become a Vendor style links in the footer while signed in; you do not need a new account.
  • I was hired to help at someone’s event — the organizer adds you to their team; the invitation email gives you access to that event.
  • I cannot sign in — use Forgot your password?; if you registered with Google, Facebook or LinkedIn, use that button instead.

3.2 Browse Events

The Events page lists everything currently on sale, soonest first. Use it when you want to look through a category or a time window rather than search for something specific. Open it with All Events at the right end of the top bar, or from the footer. You do not need an account.

The Events page filtered to the Music category, with the category and date lists above the results
The Events page filtered to the Music category, with the category and date lists above the results

What you can do here

  • Filter by category ① — the Category list contains the categories that have at least one upcoming event.
  • Filter by date ② — Today, This Weekend, This Week or This Month narrows the list to events that start in that window.
  • Search within the list — the search box matches the event name, the city and the venue name, not the description. For a fuller search with prices and dates, use Search.
  • Combine them — category, date and words work together. When any filter is active, a link next to the search bar clears it.
  • Open an event — click a card or Get Tickets. Each card shows the date, venue, the organizer and the lowest ticket price.

How results are ordered

  • Soonest start date first.
  • Twelve events per page, with page links under the list.

Which events are listed

  • Only events that are Live and public and have not started yet. A draft, a paused event or an event set to private is not listed. A private event still opens for people who have its link.
  • The list is narrowed to the country your connection appears to be in, because events elsewhere are rarely useful for a purchase. If there are no events for your country, you see all events. This also applies to the home page, Locations and the organizer and vendor directories. It does not apply to Search, and any event link opens from anywhere.
  • If an organizer pauses a live event, it disappears from the list at once, but the direct link still works for people who have it.

Good to know

  • Browsing never needs an account. Signing in adds Save on event pages so that you can keep a shortlist (see Saved Events).
  • The Locations link in the top bar opens a map with popular cities and countries, and a page for each place that has events.

Troubleshooting

  • An event I expected is missing — it may not be live yet, may be paused or private, or its date may fall outside the date window you chose. Clear all filters first. Try Search too, which is not limited to your country.
  • A category I know is missing — categories without upcoming public events are left out of the list.
  • There are no results — broaden the date window or remove the category. The empty page offers a link back to the full list.

3.3 Search

Search is the finder to use when you know roughly what you want: a word, a city, a date range or a budget. It lives at /search: open it with Advanced search next to the result count on the Events page, which carries your search words along. It puts every filter in one place. No account is needed. The search box in the top bar is a lighter tool: it opens the Events page filtered by your words, which match the event name, city and venue only.

Search results for “concert” with the extra filters open: dates and price range
Search results for “concert” with the extra filters open: dates and price range

What you can filter by

  • Keyword ① — matches the event title, description, venue and city.
  • Categories and City — two lists that only offer values that currently have upcoming events, with the number of events next to each category.
  • Free ③ and Online — check boxes. Free keeps events that have at least one free ticket type on sale; Online keeps online events.
  • More filters — a From and To date, and a Min price and Max price. The price range keeps events with at least one ticket type on sale inside it.
  • Sort ② — Soonest first, Latest first, Title A–Z, Price: low to high and Price: high to low. Price sorting goes by the cheapest ticket type on sale for each event.

How to search

  1. Type a keyword in the box ① and press Search, or leave it empty and use only the filters.
  2. Set any filters. Press + More filters for dates and prices.
  3. The page shows how many events were found, twelve to a page. Use Clear filters to start again.

Good to know

  • Only events that are live, public and not yet started are found. A private event (direct link only), a draft or a paused event never appears.
  • Search is not narrowed to your country, unlike the Events page. See Browse Events.
  • The filters are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark a search or send it to someone.
  • When a search finds nothing, the page shows a short list of events that have been booked a lot in the last seven days, so you are not left with a blank page.
  • Members-only and volunteer-only ticket types do not influence the price shown or the price filters, so an event is never listed as free only because of a thank-you ticket for volunteers.

Troubleshooting

  • I get no results for a word I know exists — a filter from an earlier search may still be set (price, dates, Free, Online). Press Clear filters.
  • The price filter seems odd for an event with several tiers — an event matches when any ticket type on sale falls in your range; the card then shows its lowest price.
  • An event I can open directly is missing — it is private, not live or already started.
  • The category list lacks a category — categories without upcoming public events are left out.

3.4 Event Details

The event page is where a listing turns into a decision: it has everything you need to know about the event, the organizer’s rules and every ticket type on offer. You get there from any list, a search result, a shared link or the organizer’s page.

A whole event page: summary, description, location, organizer, ticket conditions, reviews and the ticket panel
A whole event page: summary, description, location, organizer, ticket conditions, reviews and the ticket panel

What is on the page

  • Header — the cover picture (a generated picture for the category when the organizer uploaded none), the category, a Featured badge, an age badge when there is a minimum age, the title, the date and time and the venue address. Times are shown in the event’s own time zone, with the zone shown next to them. An online event says that the link is shared after you book.
  • Save and share ① — Save adds the event to My Saved Events (signed in only). The round buttons share it by Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, email or copy its link.
  • About this event — the organizer’s description, and, where they added one, an agenda by day.
  • Location — the venue and a map with Open in Maps for directions.
  • Organized by ② — the organizer’s name and logo, how many followers they have, Follow or Following and Contact. The organizer’s email address is never printed; Contact opens a form (see How to Contact the Organizer). A Payments verified badge means they finished setting up payments.
  • Ticket conditions ③ — what you may do with a ticket after buying: cancel, what you get back (the cancellation terms), change the attendee details and transfer it. Read this before you buy; see How to Get a Refund.
  • Sponsors — sponsors the organizer chose to show.
  • Reviews ④ — the average score, how many people gave each star count, and written reviews with the organizer’s reply under them. Only confirmed attendees can leave a review after the event.
  • The ticket panel ⑤ — Ticket Types with a quantity chooser, described below.
  • More events like this — other events in the same category. Report this event at the bottom opens the contact page with the event already filled in.

The ticket panel

The panel lists every ticket type you may see, with its price and a status: Available, Selling Fast, Filling Up, Only 3 left! or Sold Out. A price struck through with a smaller one beside it is a discount that applies now, for example a time-limited sale, and the price shown is the price you pay.

  • Set a quantity with + and −. When you choose something, the order total appears; fees are only listed when the organizer passes them on to you.
  • The button under the panel reads Select Tickets until you choose something, then Book Now with the total. It takes you to checkout with your quantities (see Checkout Process).
  • Some rows are locked for you: Members only tickets, and Volunteers only thank-you tickets. See Member Benefits.
  • If members may book earlier than everybody else, the panel says when you can start.
  • For a seated event you choose seats on the checkout page, not here.
  • Where the event has a waitlist and a type is sold out, you can join it at checkout.

Write a review

After the event has started, open Reviews from the event page, or Leave a review from your order or your dashboard.

The review page with the rating summary, the Write a Review form and the sort options
The review page with the rating summary, the Write a Review form and the sort options
  1. Choose the stars under Write a Review ①.
  2. Add a Title and a Comment if you like (both optional) and press Submit Review ②.

You can write one review per event, and only if you hold a confirmed booking for it. Reviews can be sorted by Newest, Highest, Lowest and Most Helpful, and the organizer may reply under yours.

Good to know

  • If the ticket button is greyed out or missing, sales have not opened yet or have closed, or everything is sold out. The page tells you which.
  • Prices already include the active discounts. A free ticket for volunteers does not make an event look free in lists or search.
  • You can follow the organizer and write to them without buying anything.
  • You can write a review once the event has started and you hold a confirmed booking for it. You can write one review per event, with a star rating and an optional title and comment, under Reviews or from your order in My Tickets.

Troubleshooting

  • All ticket types say Sold Out — the booking button stays disabled. Check whether the organizer offers a waitlist.
  • The price changed since my last visit — prices follow the organizer’s rules and time-limited sales, and the panel always shows the current price.
  • I cannot find where to review — the form only appears after the event has started and only for people with a confirmed booking.
  • I want to report a problem with the listing — use Report this event.

3.5 Vendor Marketplace

The vendor marketplace is where organizers find the businesses that help run an event — catering, photography, sound and lighting, décor, entertainment, rentals, security and marketing — and where those businesses get discovered. It is not a place to buy or sell tickets: tickets are sold by the organizers on their own event pages. You reach the marketplace with Vendors in the top bar, which opens the vendor page; the marketplace is the section Browse our vendor marketplace lower down.

The vendor marketplace with featured vendors, search and filters, and a list of vendors
The vendor marketplace with featured vendors, search and filters, and a list of vendors

Who it is for

  • Vendors build a public profile once: services with prices, specializations and a bio. Organizers find them through search and filters instead of the vendor pitching to each organizer.
  • Organizers (and admins) browse the profiles and send a quote request from a vendor’s page.
  • Anyone can browse. Visitors from other roles see the same listing but not the quote button.

What you can do here

  • See featured vendors ① — up to six vendors highlighted by EventMann appear at the top while no filter is active.
  • Search and filter — by keyword, Category, Specializations tag, Price range and minimum star rating (the rating list’s first entry, Any, is the unfiltered option).
  • Sort ② — Newest, Highest Rated, Name A-Z, Price: Low to High or Price: High to Low. Press Apply Filters ③ to run it, or Clear Filters to reset.
  • Switch the view — the toggle above the results shows vendors as a grid or as a list.
  • Compare — tick the box on up to three vendors, then open Compare Selected to see them side by side: rating, number of reviews and price range.
  • Open a profile with View Profile.

A vendor profile

A vendor profile with its services and prices and the Request Quote button
A vendor profile with its services and prices and the Request Quote button
  • The company name, a Featured badge where it applies, the average rating and review count, the bio and the specializations.
  • Services ① — each with its price and how it is charged: fixed, hourly, daily, or on request. “Starting from” on a vendor card is the lowest active service price, not a quote.
  • Reviews — ratings from organizers the vendor worked for, with comments.
  • Request Quote ② — for signed-in organizers and admins. Write what you need (up to 2,000 characters), optionally name one of your events, and send it. The vendor gets a notification with your message. Pricing, scope and booking are then agreed directly between you; there is no quote or contract workflow on this page.

Good to know

  • Only approved vendors are listed. A new vendor profile appears after it has been reviewed.
  • Like the event lists, the marketplace shows vendors in your country when there are any; a vendor page opens from any link.
  • Signed out, the quote section asks you to sign in. A signed-in attendee does not get a quote button, because quotes are for organizers.
  • If you are a vendor yourself, your profile and services are managed in the vendor portal, not here (see Getting Started as a Vendor).

Troubleshooting

  • I do not see Request Quote — you are signed out or not signed in as an organizer or admin.
  • A vendor I know is missing — the profile may still be waiting for approval, it may be in another country, or your filters (price, rating, specialization) exclude it.
  • The compare box is disabled — three vendors is the limit; untick one first.

Account and security

4.1 My Profile

Every account on EventMann, whatever roles it holds, keeps the same core details on one page: My Profile. Open it from your avatar menu in the top right corner, or from My Profile in the sidebar of your portal. This article covers what lives there for everybody. Attendee-specific details are in Account Settings & Password.

The profile form with photo, name, email, language and Save Changes
The profile form with photo, name, email, language and Save Changes

What you can do here

  • Profile photo ① — upload a JPG or PNG up to 2 MB, or remove your photo to go back to your initial. The old file is deleted when you replace or remove it; there is no undo beyond uploading again.
  • Full Name — required. It appears on your bookings and, for organizers, may appear with the events you publish.
  • Email Address ② — required. Changing it makes your address unverified until you confirm the new one with the emailed link (valid 72 hours); messages and features that need a verified address pause until then.
  • Phone Number and Bio — optional. For organizer accounts the bio may be shown publicly.
  • Preferred Timezone — the zone in which event times are shown to you. It never changes an event’s actual schedule, which always runs on the venue’s own time.
  • Language ③ — the language for the site, the emails and notifications we send you and your ticket PDFs. The flag in the top bar changes the language for the page you are on without saving anything.
  • Save Changes ④ stores the form. The light/dark switch (the moon icon in the top bar) is separate: it saves at once.

Below the form

  • Change Password, Set up Two-Factor Authentication and the Danger Zone (delete account). See Account Security & Two-Factor Authentication and Privacy & Data.
  • What else the page shows depends on your role: an attendee sees a ticket count, the total spent and recent tickets; an organizer sees event totals; an admin sees platform figures.
  • A card invites attendees to become an organizer. Its Start hosting events button turns your account into an organizer account at once, with no approval, as soon as your email address is verified (see Getting Started).

Other places that belong to your account

  • Notification Preferences — in your avatar menu. See Notification Preferences.
  • Active Sessions — the browsers signed in to your account; linked from the Sign-in & access card on your profile page. See Account Security.
  • API Tokens — personal tokens for scripts or the scanner app, in the same card. A token is shown once when you create it; copy it then.
  • Accessibility Settings — contrast, text size and motion, also in that card. See Accessibility.
  • Role switcher — if you hold more than one role, switch from the avatar menu.

Good to know

  • Your account has one name and one email for every role.
  • Social sign-in accounts (Google, Facebook, LinkedIn) have the same profile page. Their password form does not ask for a current password.

Troubleshooting

  • I changed my email and stopped getting some mail — confirm the new address with the verification email.
  • My timezone change did not move an event — expected: it only changes how times are shown to you.
  • The photo will not upload — use a JPG or PNG under 2 MB.
  • I cannot find Active sessions or API tokens — they are not in the menus; open the addresses above.

4.2 Account Security & Two-Factor Authentication

Your password protects your account, and the settings in this article add layers on top of it. It explains each one: what it does, where to find it and what happens if you lose access. Most of it is on My Profile, reached from your avatar menu.

Password

On My Profile: the Change Password form, the two-factor button and the Danger Zone
On My Profile: the Change Password form, the two-factor button and the Danger Zone

Change it under Change Password ① on your profile. You enter your current password and the new one twice; the new one needs at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character. If you registered with Google, Facebook or LinkedIn, you never chose a password, so the form does not ask for the current one.

If you are locked out, press Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. The emailed reset link is valid for 60 minutes; ask for a new one if it ran out.

Email verification

New accounts start unverified. Click the link in the verification email, valid for 72 hours, to confirm your address. It works on any device because it does not need you to be signed in there. Some features need a verified address, for example buying a membership, accepting a ticket transfer or publishing an event. If the link expired or never came, ask for another from the notice on the site or from your profile. Changing your email address makes it unverified again.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

2FA adds a second step at sign-in: after your password you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.

  3. Enter the 6-digit code that your app now shows in the Verification code field ② and press Verify.
  4. You are given 8 recovery codes, shown once. Save them somewhere other than the phone with your authenticator app, such as a password manager or a printout.
  • From then on every sign-in asks for a code, after your password. At that screen, Use recovery code lets you enter a recovery code instead. Each recovery code works once and is then removed.
  • After 5 wrong codes in a row, 2FA sign-in is locked for 15 minutes.
  • To turn 2FA off, use the same section of your profile and confirm with your current password. The secret and the remaining recovery codes are deleted.
  • If you lose both your authenticator app and your recovery codes, there is no way to get back in yourself: that is the point of a second factor. Contact Support and be ready to prove who you are in another way.

Active sessions

Active Sessions: this browser marked as current and two other devices with a Sign out all others button
Active Sessions: this browser marked as current and two other devices with a Sign out all others button

Open Active Sessions from the Sign-in & access card on your profile page (or go to /profile/sessions) to see every browser or device signed in to your account, with its IP address, browser and how long ago it was last active. Your current one is marked Current ①. Use the sign-out icon on a row to end that session, or Sign out all others ② to end every session except the one you are using. An account can hold at most 5 sessions; signing in on a sixth device signs out the least recently used one.

New device alerts

The first device you sign in with is trusted automatically. When you later sign in from a device we have not seen, we email you a New sign-in to your EventMann account message with the device and, when available, the location. Press Yes, this was me to confirm it. If it was not you, use the link in the email to secure your account and change your password at once.

Automatic sign-out

A session that has been idle for 30 minutes (the default) is signed out, so an unattended browser does not stay signed in. Background activity such as the notification bell does not count as activity.

Restrictions an administrator can apply

  • IP allow-listing — an administrator can limit an account to certain IP addresses. From another address you get an access-denied message instead of the sign-in screen. Ask whoever manages the account.
  • Suspension — a suspended account is signed out the next time it makes a request and cannot sign in until the suspension is lifted. Contact Support if you think it is a mistake.

Good to know

  • 2FA and your password are independent: changing your password does not turn 2FA off, and 2FA does not change the password rules.
  • Your 2FA secret and recovery codes can only be changed by the enable, confirm and disable steps above.
  • Deleting your account (Danger Zone) asks for your password and cannot be undone; see Privacy & Data.

Troubleshooting

  • My authenticator code is rejected — codes are time based. Set your phone’s clock to automatic and use the next code.
  • I lost my phone — sign in with a saved recovery code, then set 2FA up again on the new phone.
  • I used all my recovery codes and lost my app — contact Support.
  • I get no verification or reset email — check spam and the address on your account, then ask for a new link; old ones expire.
  • I was signed out on one device after signing in on another — you reached the limit of 5 sessions.

4.3 Accessibility

EventMann has four settings you can adjust for yourself, and a set of accessibility features that are built into the pages. This article says what is there today and how to report something that does not work for you. The settings page is linked as Accessibility Settings from the Sign-in & access card on your profile page, and is also at /accessibility/settings, which works without signing in.

Accessibility Settings with High Contrast Mode, Reduce Animations, Screen Reader Optimised, a font size slider and Save Settings

The settings

  • High Contrast Mode ① — increases the contrast between text and background colours.
  • Reduce Animations ② — minimises motion effects and transitions. Nothing stops working; only the movement around it is removed.
  • Screen Reader Optimised — shows clearer focus outlines and keeps the skip links visible when they get keyboard focus.
  • Font Size ③ — a slider from Small to Extra Large (the default is Medium) that changes the text size across the platform.
  1. Open Accessibility Settings from your profile page, or go to /accessibility/settings.
  2. Switch on what you need and move the slider.
  3. Press Save Settings ④. The page confirms and the setting applies on every page.

When you are signed in, your choices are saved to your account and follow you to other devices. When you are signed out, they are kept for your current browser session only. They are separate from the light and dark theme, so you can combine both.

Built into the platform

  • Keyboard use — interactive elements can be reached and used without a mouse, and focus is visible.
  • Structure — semantic page structure and landmarks so screen readers can move through a page.
  • Forms — inputs have labels, and errors are described in text next to the field, not only in colour.
  • Accessible seating — organizers can mark seats and whole sections as wheelchair-accessible. Those seats carry a wheelchair symbol on the seat map and in the seat list, and you can filter to show only accessible seats. The organizer enters this information, so ask them if it matters for your booking.
  • Keyboard seat choice — every seat map has a seat list of real buttons that announce section, row, price, accessibility and availability. The picture of the map itself is pointer-only; the list is the full equivalent.

Known limitations

  • Images and descriptions added by organizers may lack alternative text or structure; that depends on the organizer.
  • PDF tickets contain text but are not optimised for every screen reader. The ticket page in the browser shows the same information.
  • Content from other providers, such as maps and payment forms, is outside our direct control.

Our aim is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The page Accessibility Statement, linked from the settings page, describes our approach and these limits.

Report a problem

If you meet a barrier, such as a control you cannot reach by keyboard, text that does not resize or something a screen reader mishandles, open a support ticket or use the contact details on the Accessibility Statement. Name the page and describe what happened. Accessibility reports are treated as faults, not as feature requests.

Good to know

  • The settings page works signed out as well, so you can adjust the site before you create an account.
  • Your browser’s own zoom works as usual; the settings here are in addition to it.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot find the accessibility menu — it is not in the top menu; open it from the Sign-in & access card on your profile page, or go to /accessibility/settings directly.
  • My font size did not stick — press Save Settings. When signed out, the choice lasts only for the browser session.
  • The seat map cannot be used with my keyboard — use the seat list beside it.

4.4 Supported Browsers & Devices

EventMann is a web application built for current browsers, so how well it runs depends mostly on how up to date your browser is. This article says what to expect, what must be switched on, and a limit that matters if you check people in with an iPhone.

Recommended browsers

  • Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge — the latest version of each is recommended.

The site uses modern web features, and the interactive parts (ticket quantities, menus, the payment form) rely on JavaScript, which must be enabled. An old browser is far more likely to cause trouble than any particular version number. Updating is the most reliable fix for layout or button problems.

Devices

The site adapts to desktop, tablet and phone screens. There is no EventMann app for attendees: you buy tickets, show them and manage your account in a browser on any device. Your tickets are web pages and PDFs, so a phone with a browser is enough at the door. A separate scanner app and an installable scanner web page exist for the people who check tickets (see below).

What has to be on

  • JavaScript — without it most pages cannot work.
  • Cookies — signing in and checkout use the site’s own cookies. The cookie banner lets you choose what else is allowed; refusing optional cookies does not stop you from buying.
  • Access to Stripe’s payment form — the card and payment form is loaded from our payment provider. If an ad blocker or a strict network prevents it, the page says The payment form could not load. Please disable any ad blocker for this page, or reload it.
  • Location (optional) — only if you ask for events near you on the For You page.
  • Notifications (optional) — only if you turn on browser push in Notification Preferences.

Check-in scanner on iPhone

Organizers and door staff can install the check-in page as a home-screen web app from the check-in page itself. There is no App Store listing, because iOS offers no install prompt for web apps. In Safari press the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. This needs iOS 16.4 or later: on earlier versions the installed app cannot use the camera, so scan from the Safari tab instead. Android and desktop Chrome show a normal install button.

  • The installed scanner contains only the scanner. Signing in again, if your session ended, opens in your normal browser.
  • An Android scanner app is also offered as a direct download, linked as Scanner App in the site footer.

Good to know

  • Attendees do not need to install anything to show a ticket: open the ticket page or the PDF.
  • The light and dark appearance follows the switch in the top bar; text size and contrast are in the accessibility settings.

Troubleshooting

  • The scanner cannot use the camera after I installed it on my iPhone — check that iOS is 16.4 or later. Otherwise use the Safari tab version.
  • A button does nothing or the layout looks broken — update your browser, then reload. Also try without extensions that block scripts.
  • No page shows interactive content — check that JavaScript is enabled.
  • The payment form does not appear — disable the ad blocker for the page or try another network.

4.5 Support

Use Support for anything about the platform itself: your account, a payment, a technical error, or a problem that the organizer cannot solve. Questions about a specific event, such as directions, the programme or what is included, are faster to answer if you ask the organizer (see How to Contact the Organizer). Open Support Tickets in your account sidebar. You need to be signed in; guests can use the Help & Contact page.

Raise a ticket

  1. Open Support Tickets and press New ticket ①.

  1. Write a short Subject ①.
  2. Choose a Category ②: Billing, Technical, Event, Refund or General.
  3. Choose a Priority ③: Low (no rush), Medium (within a few days), High (needs attention) or Urgent (blocking issue). Pick honestly: it helps the right things get looked at first.
  4. Describe the problem in the Description (up to 5,000 characters). The tips beside the form suggest what to include: your booking reference, the steps to reproduce the problem, and your browser and device.
  5. Press Submit ticket ④.

Always give the booking reference (it starts with BK-) for anything about a purchase: it is how we find your order. You find it on your confirmation email and on the order in My Tickets.

Follow a ticket

A support ticket with the question, a Close ticket button and a reply box
  • The list shows each ticket’s number, subject, status, priority and last reply. Filter it with All, Open, In progress, Waiting, Resolved or Closed.
  • Open a ticket to read the conversation. Type under Add reply ② and press Send reply. New answers appear in the thread without reloading the page.
  • Close ticket ① ends the conversation when you no longer need help.
  • You are notified of a reply and when a ticket is marked resolved, in the bell and by email, according to your Notification Preferences (Support reply and Ticket resolved).

What the statuses mean

StatusMeaning
OpenYour ticket is in the queue and has not been answered yet.
In progressThe support team has replied and is working on it.
WaitingOn hold while the ticket waits for further information.
ResolvedThe team believes the issue is dealt with. If you reply, the ticket reopens automatically.
ClosedFinished; no more replies are expected.

Good to know

  • Only you, the person handling the ticket and administrators can see a ticket. It is not public.
  • Replying to a resolved ticket reopens it; you do not need to open a new one.
  • There is no fixed response time. A correct priority and a clear description speed things up.
  • Support cannot decide a refund for an organizer’s event: the organizer decides, under their cancellation terms. See How to Get a Refund.

Troubleshooting

  • My ticket has been Open for a while — it moves to In progress when someone replies. Until then it is waiting in the queue.
  • I forgot something — open the ticket and add a reply with the missing information.
  • It says Resolved but it is not — reply on the same ticket and it reopens.
  • I cannot reach the support form — sign in first. If you cannot sign in, use the contact page.
