On this page
Cannot make it to an event? If the organizer has switched on ticket transfers, you can hand your ticket to someone else by email, right from the ticket page.
Before you start
The Transfer Ticket button only appears when all of the following are true: you are the person who made the original booking, the organizer has enabled transfers for this event, the ticket has not already been transferred, and it has not already been checked in at the door. If any of these does not hold, the button is simply not shown.
How to transfer a ticket
- Open the ticket from My Tickets (the View button) or your confirmation email.
- Click Transfer Ticket.
- Enter the recipient's email address, and an optional short message.
- Click Send Transfer Request — it briefly shows “Sending...” while it goes through.
What happens next
- The recipient gets an email with a link to accept the transfer. To open it, they need to sign in, or create an account, using that exact email address — the link will not work for a different account.
- Your own ticket keeps working normally while the transfer is pending — it is not locked or hidden, so nothing changes for you unless and until the recipient actually accepts.
- Once they accept, the ticket is marked as transferred and you get a confirmation email. From then on it is theirs: they use the link in their email to view, download or show its QR code.
The offer expires after 7 days
If the recipient has not accepted within 7 days, the transfer offer simply expires. Because your original ticket was never locked in the first place, nothing needs to be restored — it stayed valid the whole time.
Changed your mind? Cancel it
While a transfer is still pending, the Transfer Ticket button on the ticket page is replaced by a Cancel Transfer button showing the address you sent it to. Click it, confirm, and the offer is withdrawn immediately — the recipient's link stops working and the ticket is yours to transfer again, to the same or a different address. This only works before the recipient accepts; once a transfer has been accepted the ticket has already moved and there is nothing left to cancel.
Good to know
- You can only have one transfer pending on a given ticket at a time — sending a second one while the first is still open is rejected.
- A ticket that has already been checked in at the door cannot be transferred.
- Sent the offer to the wrong address? Use Cancel Transfer on the ticket page, then send a new one to the right email — no need to contact the organizer.
- You cannot transfer a ticket to your own email address.
Troubleshooting
- I do not see a Transfer Ticket button — the organizer has not enabled transfers for this event, the ticket was already transferred, a transfer is already pending on it, it has already been checked in, or you are not the original booker.
- It says a transfer is already pending — you already sent one for this ticket; use Cancel Transfer on the ticket page if you want to send a different one, or wait for the recipient to respond, or for it to expire after 7 days.
- The recipient says the link does not work — they must sign in with the exact email address you entered when sending the transfer; a typo in that address, or signing in with a different one, blocks it.
- I cannot transfer to myself — that is blocked on purpose; use a different email if you meant to move a ticket between two of your own accounts.
