Once a task shows up on My Tasks, moving it forward is a single dropdown — there is no separate “open task” step or comment thread to work through.
How to update a task
- Open My Tasks from the sidebar.
- Find the task under its event.
- Use the status dropdown on the right of the task row and pick Pending, In Progress, or Completed.
- The change saves the moment you pick a value — there is no separate Save button.
Good to know
- Marking a task Completed stamps the current time as its completion time and replaces the dropdown with a plain status badge.
- Completed is one-way from your side. Once a task is marked done, you cannot move it back to Pending or In Progress yourself — only the organiser can reopen it.
- Tasks with a due date turn red and get an Overdue label once the due date has fully passed and the task is still not completed. Marking it complete removes the overdue styling even if it was late.
Moving a task to In Progress is worth doing even if it feels like an extra click — it is the only signal the organiser gets, from your side, that something is underway rather than forgotten. Nothing else on this screen communicates that.
Troubleshooting
- I can't change a task back after completing it — this is expected. Completed tasks lose their dropdown on your side by design; ask the organiser to reopen it if it was marked done in error.
- I finished something but there is no task for it — only the organiser creates tasks. If work needs tracking and there is no task for it, message the organiser and ask them to add one.
- A task disappeared from my list — either the organiser deleted it, or your status on that event no longer counts as Approved or Active.
- My change didn't seem to save — the dropdown submits itself the instant you pick a new value; if the page reloaded and the status looks unchanged, the update was most likely rejected because the task was already Completed.
