On this page
Once an organiser has put you on a shift, that shift shows up on My Shifts with a single button: Check In. This is how EventMann knows you actually worked the shift, and it is the only source of the hours that later turn into pay.
What actually happens when you tap the button
- Check In — stamps the exact time onto your shift assignment. The button then disappears and a Check Out button takes its place.
- Check Out — stamps the finish time and calculates your hours for that shift as the time between the two stamps, to two decimal places. Once you have checked out, the row just shows Done with the hours worked — there is nothing left to tap.
There is no QR code, geofencing, or break timer built into this — it is genuinely just two timestamps. That also means the clock only knows what you tell it: if you check in ten minutes early or check out an hour late, that extra time is counted as worked.
How to check in and out
- Open My Shifts from the sidebar.
- Find the shift under the event it belongs to.
- Tap Check In when you start working.
- Tap Check Out when you finish. Your total hours for the shift appear immediately next to Checked in / Checked out times on the same row.
Good to know
- You can only check out after you have checked in, and only once — the buttons enforce this, so you cannot accidentally reset a shift you have already completed.
- A shift only appears on this page once an organiser has assigned you to it. Being Approved to work an event is not the same as being on a shift — if you do not see a shift you expect, ask the organiser to assign you.
- Your check-in/check-out record is also what your reliability is measured on: a shift you never checked into counts as a no-show, and a shift you checked into but never checked out of counts as unfinished. Neither can be edited by you after the fact.
- If a shift lets you request a swap, the Request Swap option sits right next to Check In on the same row, before you have checked in.
If you forget to check out
Nothing happens automatically — the shift simply stays in a checked in, never checked out state, and no hours are ever calculated for it because hours are only computed at the moment you check out. That matters at payday: when an organiser generates payroll for the period, a shift with no hours worked is skipped entirely, so it will not appear on your Payments page and will not be paid. There is no self-service way to add a missed check-out afterwards, so the moment you realise you forgot, message the organiser through Messages and ask them to sort it out before payroll for that period is generated.
Troubleshooting
- I don't see a Check In button — either you have already checked in (look for Check Out, or Done if the shift is finished), or you have not been assigned to a shift for this event yet, only approved as staff.
- My hours look wrong — hours are the raw time between your check-in and check-out taps, not your scheduled shift times. Checking in early or checking out late both add to the total.
- The shift I worked never made it to Payments — check whether it shows a Check Out time on My Shifts. If it never got checked out, it has no hours and payroll skips it.
